Maskulinitetens roll inom svensk fotboll: En beskrivande analys

Sammanfattning: Swedish football is seeing great problems with violence, degrading expressions and civil disobedience. Groups of women are afraid to go to football games because of the culture and its structure. People are being threatened for life working towards gender equality in Swedish football, this is a never-ending problem. This paper has a two-parted purpose. The first part aims to describe the structure of Swedish football with its surrounding supporter culture. The second part aims to isolate the dominant traits in the description to see how well signs of masculinity can be found in the empirical substance. To achieve a correct operationalization a descriptive idea analytical method has been applied in combination with R.W Connells, Butlers and Hirdmans theoretical views on masculinity. The two dimensions that make up the analytical tools are a power dimension and a character dimension. The empirical evidence used in the paper to achieve a good description has been collated from governmental investigations, interviews and newspaper articles. Main conclusions that have been drawn from the study consists of that typical traits of masculinity from both dimensions have been found to dominate in the empirical substance.
