Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to investigate the phenomenon of psychological intimate partner violence among bisexual women. For this, semi-structured interviews were conducted with professionals who meet women who have been subject to intimate partner violence. The theoretical perspectives used for the analysis were Social Constructivism and Gender Theory, with a focus on power and control. The results showed certain contradictions as to how the interviewees encountered the phenomenon: some of them stressed the particular vulnerable position of bisexual female women in terms of psychological violence, while a few of the interviewees could not distinguish bisexual women’s vulnerability in their day to day practice. Three possible reasons were found for this contradiction. The first, was that professionals may not ask questions about the other person’s sexuality. The second, was that bisexual women may not contact the organisations that provide help and support for vulnerable women. The third, was that there may be a general lack of knowledge about LGBTQ-matters in society, including among professionals working with intimate partner violence. The findings point towards a dominant system where gender and sexuality form part of socially constructed heteronormative ways of seeing, and where certain groups, such as bisexual women, can easily disappear, in spite of being exposed to violence.
