Sammanfattning: The purpose of this essay is to investigate if signage for tourists in Stockholm is enough to easily find your way to attractions and public modes of transport and how the city works with the issue. Triangulation was chosen for the essay, that is, a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods. A survey of 100 tourists was carried out in the Old town of Stockholm and interviews were made with stakeholders in the tourism industry and signage policy in Stockholm. The survey showed that most of the tourists found it easy to find their way in Stockholm and that they were content with the signage. Few of the tourists thought it was difficult to find their way in Stockholm. The tourists thought there were enough signs in English, with arrows and pictograms. Stakeholders were of the opinion that signage is important for tourists. Many stakeholders also thought there should be more English signs. At the present point in time, stakeholders are collaborating in different projects, for example putting up new orientation signs and working towards a more uniform signage for pedestrians. Stockholm Public Transport aims to be clear by using Swedish text and pictograms. They have deliberately chosen not to sign in English because it would take up space on the signs and make the texts smaller and consequently difficult to read. The conclusion was made that signage in Stockholm is acceptable, but can be improved. The stakeholders believe that the use of GPS will increase among tourists. Some stakeholders think that signage will not have the same importance in the future as technology becomes more and more accessible and widespread.
