Obetalt arbete, kontaktyrken och kvinnors hälsa : En kvalitativ studie om kopplingen mellan det obetalda arbetet i hemmet, att arbeta inom funktionshinderomsorgen och kvinnors upplevelse av stress

Sammanfattning: Contact professions which refers to human-care professions is described as belonging to a segregated labor market, where statistics show that women in the professional category are sick-worn to a greater degree than men. Research also shows that work in disability care is stressful as the individual can have a challenging behavior. At the same time, statistics show that women still take the greatest responsibility for unpaid work at home and that women are more stressed at the end of a workday than men. The purpose of the paper is to examine whether women are affected by the combination of unpaid work in the home combined to the psychosocial work environment in disability care. We have used a hermeneutic approach as it is women's experiences we are interested in. We have chosen a qualitative method in which we interviewed seven women through semistructured interviews. The selection is women working in disability care, cohabiting and have children in their own right. The result has been analyzed by a thematic analysis where we compiled the results in a framework. Finally, we have analyzed the result according to different themes. The results show that women generally feel comfortable working in disability care but experiencing stress because of the unpaid work at home. The distribution of unpaid work in the home varies but the woman has the main responsibility. What also emerged was that women demand structure and planning to handle the stress of everyday life. The paid and unpaid work affects women in different ways, with the majority of respondents experiencing stress and lack of time because of the unpaid work at home. The work in disability care does not affect women negatively, but they point out the importance of support at work and to follow job descriptions.
