Känslighet för kusterosion i Skåne till följd av havsnivåhöjning - Åtgärder i Helsingborgs, Trelleborgs och Ystads kommuner

Sammanfattning: Coastal erosion is one of the side effects of global climate change induced sea level rise and communities have different approaches to assess coastal erosion. This study shows how three municipalities in Scania (Sweden) are affected by coastal erosion and investigates measures that are appropriate to prevent coastal erosion. The study consists of a literature study and an interview study with officials in the municipalities of Trelleborg, Ystad and Helsingborg. Maps for each municipality have been developed showing both present coastal erosion and the conditions with 1 m sea level rise. The municipalities surveyed are expected to have increased erosion sensitivity with local variations. The municipalities are facing different problems due to sensibilities of the coast and the community's configuration. Different protections are used to prevent coastal erosion, and these can be divided into hard and soft protections. Hard erosion protection has been shown to contribute to increased coastal erosion problems where the protection moves the problem laterally. Soft erosion protection does not contribute to these problems but in some places, it is not possible to perform beach nourishment. Natural erosion protection is investigated in the EU project LIFE Coastal Adapt and these show positive effects for biodiversity, however, many of these are not as well tested and distributed. Measures should be locally adaptable and based on local knowledge. A conclusion can be drawn where hard erosion protection should not be the first choice. Soft and nature-based measures should be evaluated and preferred to implement if erosion protection is needed. Keyworlds: Climate change; sea level rise; coastal erosion; municipally of Trelleborg; municipally of Ystad; municipally of Helsingborg.
