Sammanfattning: My purpose with this essay was to understand the contact persons view of his/her own professional role/identity, and the specific work environment at a correctional facility as an organization. To reach my purpose I answered three questions: how the correctional organization affect the individual contact person and their workmanship seen from a professional perspective, how contact persons find their professional role and professional identity, and what obstacles and possibilities there are within the job as a contact person in corrections. I chose to use qualitative semi structured interviews to collect the empirical material. I concluded six interviews of contact persons at a correctional facility. What I found was the following: that the job as a contact person is an important part of the daily work at a correctional facility. It is very demanding both in resource and space. Safety issues take a lot of time from the contact person work itself. This lead to a split in the work group and organization, as some of the staff wants specialization of the contact person role. I have also found that the basic training offered by the office of corrections is insufficient for new staff and it takes too long to get.
