Sammanfattning: This paper aims to explore several aspects of municipal growth in a polycentric region. Firstly, and mainly, the future polycentric structure of villages in Kävlinge and Lomma municipalities. Secondly how the polycentric village structure may be affected by the newly re-opened passenger train track ‘Lommabanan’ that runs through both municipalities. And lastly what role the municipalities what to play in the polycentric region of Skåne. The paper’s theoretic framework consists of polycentric theory, as well as the concept of ‘Transit-Oriented development’. Furthermore, the study is based on a document analysis of four documents; both municipalities’ master plans, MalmöLund-regionen’s plan for future regional structure and the regional master plan of Region Skåne; as well as on two interviews with representatives from the planning offices of Kävlinge and Lomma, respectively. The results suggests that both municipalities want to grow into a more hierarchical polycentric structure. Kävlinge desires to grow with the now main center Kävlinge as primary center, while Lomma aims to grow by two different centers, partly in Lomma, partly in Bjärred – today’s secondary center. Lommabanan is affecting some places more than others, especially in the villages Flädie and Furulund the new locations close to public transport greatly affect development scale. The regional polycentric structure is an important aspect of the planning in both municipalities, as they both aspire to become attractive residential municipalities, with their citizens working elsewhere.
