Sammanfattning: The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether in medieval urban Lund you could find structures similar to the rural complexes with manor and private church and, if so, what these would look like. Initially, a hypothetical picture is formed. This is based on earlier research on church building and church organisation, on the aristocratic rural establishments and on the medieval development of Lund. Four possible manor sites based on four different source materials are suggested and described. In S:t Botulf there is a remaining family manor house in the vicinity of the assumed church; in S:t Mårten written notes concerning remains of an exclusive stone house indicate a possible site for a manor house; in S:t Stefan a 14th century deed leads to a possible site for a manor house; in S:t Andreas unique artefacts are linked to an Anglo-Scandinavian manor and church complex. Finally, the results from the analysis are used to suggest a chronological development of Lund manor house complexes. Some spatial aspects of the establishment of manor houses are discussed; site structures, roads and location of buildings.
