Skamkänslor vid arbetslöshet - En kvalitativ studie om arbetsmarknadssekreterares upplevelser och arbete med skamkänslor hos arbetslösa
Sammanfattning: The aim of this study is to describe and analyze how the social workers inthe organization of employment department in Malmö work with their clients feelings of shame. The focus of the study is unemployment in relation to feelings of shame. A qualitative method has been done by eight interviews with professionals at theorganization. The choice of the interviews was because the department is a local organization established due to the distribution of unemployment in Malmö. The idea was already from the start to design the study as a qualitative study and we wanted to interview professionals from the specific organization due to their work. The results of our study shows that the social workers on the employment department work with people that are far from the labor market. The focus in the study has been if the participants feel any shame in relation to their situation as unemployed and if they do, how do the social workers handle that? The majority of our interviewees could see that some of their participants felt ashamed because of their unemployment. Some participants felt shame that they need to receive social benefits others felt shame that they could not give their children as much as other children get. The social workers all agreed that shame is an important part to work withbut they had different thoughts and methods on how to work with it. Something interesting that we saw as a result of the study is the fact that in general the relation between unemployment and shame is common but there is no course of action to manage the problem.
