Detta är en Uppsats för yrkesexamina på grundnivå från Karlstads universitet/Fakulteten för humaniora och samhällsvetenskap (from 2013)

Sammanfattning: This study is majorly based on a qualitative method with a touch of quantitative questions. The result of this study is based on an online survey that has been distributed to preschool teachers in Sweden through seven different online groups on Facebook who are especially for preschool teachers or other relevant staff in preschool. The purpose of this study is to enlighten preschool teachers’ perception on their own intercultural competence. This study uses two different models from Lahdenperä (2018), both which will work as a tool of analysis and help answering the research questions. The result from this study showed that preschool teachers are notably more insecure about their work regarding cultural diversity and that a majority has not received any competence development regarding this area, even though this is needed. The preschool teachers show knowledge regarding intercultural competence but enlightens difficulties in terms of cooperative relations with the guardians and how to work with cultural diversity in the “right way”. The conclusions are that this study shows similar results as earlier research which shows insecurities regarding competence in cultural diversity in preschool and that this competence need to be given the opportunity to be developed to create a more equal preschool in Sweden.
