Den interna partipolitiken: En fallstudie av Liberalerna, Moderaterna och Centerpartiet i Lunds kommun
Sammanfattning: Political parties in Swedish municipalities play a major role in reflecting the preferences of the inhabitants. At the same time, there is incredibly low confidence in our municipal politicians and parties in today's Sweden. This thesis aims to look at the internal processes of Swedish parties at the local level in order to examine their function and legitimacy. The purpose is also to look at the trade-offs that the political parties make between Policy, Office, and Votes. The thesis is based on theories of Rational Choice, Historical Institutionalism and Party Policy theory. The results show that the examined parties have a broad decentralization process. The Liberals are looking for Office at the expense of policy. The Moderates are Policy- and Office-seeking, some trade-offs are made towards Office at the expense of Policy. The Center Party is looking for Policy at the expense of Office. None of the parties are merely trying to maximize voice. Instead, it is about building policies and holding offices in order to generate votes.
