Sammanfattning: The object for this study is a company developing and manufacturing vehicles for heavy transportation. The company distributes their products on a global market. Therefore the company is required to have efficient internal production development processes in order to successfully beat the competition. The purpose of this master thesis is to study how this particular company intends to implement their standardized theoretical product development process within their organization and how well it is done. We intend to identify and specify if the process has any unexploited capacity. If that is the case the study is meant to result in a number of recommendations for the company to use in order to make the process more efficient. A parallel purpose is to evaluate how the competence of the department for purchasing is utilized within the organization, and how it could be done in a better way. The conclusion of the thesis is a number of recommendations regarding how we think that the company should change their internal process when developing new products. The recommendations focus mainly on internal communication and cooperation between the different departments that are involved in the product development projects.
