Sammanfattning: Modern research tends to require interdisciplinary research collaboration due the increased complexity of scientific research. At KTH, there are several distinct research departments and the partitioning of these research departments often change. This is done to make collaboration between research departments on research publications easier. Due to the fact that all researchers at KTH publish their findings on the database DiVA, trends regarding collaboration between research departments can be investigated. The purpose of this report is to investigate the collaboration between researchers to see what factors should be taken into consideration when partitioning research departments at KTH. This thesis attempts to investigate how the inter- and intradepartmental research collaboration at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is distributed. Clustering coefficients were used for looking at the internal collaboration between departments, and community detection was used for looking at the collaboration between departments. The results from this study show that there seemed to be plenty of internal collaboration within departments. There did not seem to be any particularly strong collaboration partitions of top-level departments at KTH by using unnormalized graphs of collaboration.
