Arbete med jämställdhet i förskolan med hjälp av barnlitteratur : En kvalitativ studie om förskollärarens arbete med jämställdhet utifrån barnlitteratur

Sammanfattning: This is a qualitative study that aims to investigate what preschool teachers are thinking about working whit equality with the help of children´s literature. My experience when I have been in the preschool activity is that the literature is something that is being used when some children are very active indoor, and the educator tells the children to sit down and read a book instead. I believe that we are constantly aiming for a more equality society and I therefor decided to combine my study in these two subjects. To carry out with this study I decided to interview three preschool teachers. The interviews occurred individually so that the preschool teacher would get the chance to tell their own thoughts and experiences. I used a phenomenographic method during the interview to get their own statements. The result of the study has shown that the preschool teachers needs to have good knowledge about the subject equality so they can teach the children about the subject, and that it is important to introduce the children to equality in a young age. The study also showed that the language is an important tool to use while teaching, which means that the literature is an important tool to use in the teaching of equality. During the interviews, the preschool teachers pointed out how important it is to read out loud for the children. Working with literature helps them develop their language and increase their vocabulary.
