Sammanfattning: This master thesis deals with how an effective risk communication between the county administrative board and the public can be conducted. The master thesis starts with a summary of the current literature on the subject after which interviews were conducted with three individuals who work with these issues at the county administrative board in Kalmar and a number of questions were sent to a few municipalities who use a campaign regarding 72-hour preparedness. The authors suggest that the county administrative board in Kalmar coordinate the municipalities in Kalmar County in order to conduct risk communication campaigns with a focus on dialog to answer the key questions highlighted in this master thesis at the same time in order to maximise expositor. The authors further recommend that the county administrative board in Kalmar wait for the result of the evaluation of the large preparedness campaign conducted by Gothenburg City. Should the evaluation mentioned above have no impact the authors recommend that the county administrative board in Kalmar continue to raise the question of how effective risk communication should be conducted instead. Regardless of the outcome of the evaluation the authors suggest that the county administrative board’s primary action related to risk communication is not to create its own channels in which to communicate with the public since this is for the most part the responsibility of the municipalities.
