  1. 16. Social behaviour responses in red junglefowl (Gallus gallus) selected for tameness

    Master-uppsats, Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Författare :Maria Ericsson; [2010]
    Nyckelord :domestication; red junglefowl; sociality; tameness selection;

    Sammanfattning : Historically during domestication of animals, tameness towards humans was likely the most desired trait and therefore bred on. The red junglefowl (Gallus gallus) is the wild progenitor of all domestic chicken breeds and earlier studies present clear morphological, physiological and behavioural differences between domesticated breeds and the non-domesticated red junglefowl. 2. 17. Bioinformatics analysis of whole genome resequencing data in the chicken

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Författare :Khurram Maqbool; [2010]
    Nyckelord :Next generation sequencing; structural variation; insertion; deletion; chicken;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most important challenges in human medicine is the identification of genetic variants underlying complex diseases but we are still not able to assess the risk of disease by genetic profiling. Also, as the complete functional properties remain unknown for most genes it is very important to further functionally annotate genomes. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Effects of the NO donors Sodium Nitroprusside andS-nitrosoglutathione on oxygen consumption and embryonic organ growth in the domestic broiler chicken,Gallus gallus domesticus.

    Kandidat-uppsats, Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Författare :Andreas Ekström; [2010]
    Nyckelord :Hypotension; Nitric Oxide; NO donor; Oxygen consumption; Prenatal growth; S-Nitrosoglutathione; Sodium Nitroprusside; Vasodilation;

    Sammanfattning : Nitric oxide (NO) is an important chemical factor that controls vascular tone in the cardiovascular system. NO is a vasodilatory molecule that plays a role in blood pressure and blood flow regulation as well as vessel formation and tissue cell proliferation. LÄS MER
