ATT KÄNNA SAMHÖRIGHET MED SVERIGE En kvalitativ intervjustudie om samhörighetsproblemet i Sverige utifrån liberal nationalism

Sammanfattning: In every country there is a need for belonging to keep the nation together. In societies which are ethnically diverse this comes as a greater challenge since the automatic connectedness to the nation through ethnicity is lacking for a large part of the population. This creates a problem of belonging. The study aims to investigate this problem and what possible solutions there are to it through the perspective of liberal nationalism. It does so by collecting the reflections about these phenomena from seven interviews with young integrated Swedish men with foreign heritage. Because the respondents had a different ethnicity than Swedish, I hypothesised that they in some shape or form had experienced the problem of belonging, which would contribute to the material of the study. The results show the need for a common national identity in accordance with liberal nationalism. It also shows that the individual will of adaption, knowing what to become a part of and the portrayal of the nation, lays the foundations for possible solutions. Furthermore, some suggestions of these solutions going forward are presented.
