Detta är en Magister-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Pedagogik

Sammanfattning: This study examines the importance of learning in the workplace and what employees believe is key to master so that they can improve their skills. This will improve our understanding of the workplace´s learning process and as a result, enhance its efficiency. In addition to that, the study will also investigate what employees feel supports or hinder their learning at the workplace. The study is based on qualitative research drawn from four interviews conducted with employees from a company, using a thematic analysis as well as previous research to interpret the results, on learning in the workplace published in the last 20 years. I have then proceeded to address the research question from a sociocultural perspective, which I thought was most suitable for this topic. The results generated from the research shows overwhelming support from the employees to the idea of learning in the workplace. But time and again, they face challenges such as time limits and workload from their normal tasks. Furthermore, employees believed that they gain considerable knowledge from exchanging ideas with one another. In conclusion, this study has found that workplace learning is important both for employers and employees. Employees learn a substantial amount of information from each other. But they also face challenges such as time limitations and workload issues. To mitigate these problems, one of the solutions explored in the discussion is creating continuous learning and a long-term study plan which will significantly limit the amount of hours invested and amount of work required from the learning sessions. The results of the study can increase the understanding of and knowledge about the employees' conditions for learning in the workplace.
