Massmediala framställningar av hedersvåld : En kvalitativ undersökning av vetenskapliga studier och massmediala artiklar

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to examine representations of problems with honor related violence as they are represented in Swedish newspapers and how these representations are related to the academic discourse on honor violence. The newspapers upon which this study is based are Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet. The study focuses on a Swedish context. This work is based on a qualitative approach with the use of textual analysis and content analysis. The results of the study are that there are significant differences between representations in mass media and the academic theories on honor violence. The most important difference is that the focus of the newspaper articles was on the description of outcomes which means that the discourse in mass media presents a simplified view on honor violence when compared with the academic discourse.
