Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to provide proposals for renovation measures and investigate to what extent preservation of cultural values can be combined with energy efficiency in an urban transformation projects. The goal was also to develop a strategy for the renovation of k-marked buildings using literature study, case study and parameter study. The case study was based on a 1910s industrial building called “Maskin- & monteringshallen”, located in Västra hamnen Malmö. It had protection regulations k and q and was particularly valuable from a cultural and historical point of view. The parameter study was primarily carried out by the simulation program IDA-ICE to obtain the building energy demand and more. A total of 14 cases were simulated where among other things, insulation thickness, window replacement and solar shading were studied. The study found that 100 mm of internal additional insulation and internal solar shading was sufficient to achieve current energy standards without compromising too much of the cultural historical details and value of the building. The strategy was compiled into a four-step work process which could be considered when renovating cultural-historic buildings; (1) preserve existing character, (2) restore cultural-historical value, (3) take current legal requirements into account, and finally (4) adapt to the energy transition.
