"Syns man inte så finns man inte" : En kvalitativ studie om nyhetsintresse i ett underbevakat område: Berättelser från sex invånare i Gäddede

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för medier och journalistik (MJ)

Sammanfattning: This qualitative study aims to show how six people in Gäddede, Sweden, perceive the local media’s coverage. This study is based on interviews with six people residing in Gäddede. The central part of this study is to investigate the magnitude of these six people’s interest in local and national news, how the current coverage from media affects their national social inclusion in society as a whole and finally describes the six people’s faith towards the media in the region. Our theoretical framework has been inspired by similar studies regarding the importance of local news, with the difference that we focused on the perspective of the people we interviewed and the stories they told us. We found that the majority of these six people we interviewed thought the news coverage of Gäddede is low and that is a factor of the social exclusion they feel for the society in general. Some stories from these people indicate that they have low faith in media. There is a strong interest in news of the people we interviewed, but they feel there is an absence of local news. Therefore the people will find other ways to get that information.
