  1. 1. CHANGES IN URBAN GREENERY DURING THE 2018 HEAT WAVE – A CASE STUDY FOR GÖTEBORG USING REMOTE SENSING

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Författare :Ivan Ruzic; [2023-06-21]
    Nyckelord :heat wave; urban trees; NDVI; remote sensing;

    Sammanfattning : Urban vegetation plays a crucial role in diverse urban microclimates. The numerous ecosystem services provided by vegetation, particularly trees, ensure greater quality of life and thermal comfort regulation. Yet, not all trees are immune to extreme weather events, such as droughts and heat waves, especially in cities. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Can urban tree re-inventories inform future species selection? : diameter at breast height as an indicator for tree performance in Malmö municipality’s tree database

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management (from 130101)

    Författare :Hannah Kit Kraynick Braegelmann; [2023]
    Nyckelord :DBH; ; diameter at breast height; tree inventories; tree re-inventories; urban forestry; species selection; tree management;

    Sammanfattning : Using the inventory database of trees for Malmö municipality, Sweden, this study explored the potential of using the diameter at breast height (DBH) measurement in re-inventories, as a decision-making tool for species selection and management in urban forests. With the escalating pressures of urbanization and unpredictable climate change effects, there is an urgent need for urban forest managers to possess reliable tools that can facilitate the selection of resilient tree species capable of thriving in diverse and changing urban contexts. 3. 3. Moharens effekt på förbuskning och hävdgynnad flora på Hållö

    Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för företagande, innovation och hållbarhet

    Författare :Anna Lindfors; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Naturvård; beteshävd; naturbetesmarker; igenväxning; bevarande; mohare; skogshare; hare; Hållö;

    Sammanfattning : Naturreservatet Hållö, i Sotenäs kommun har bibehållit en rik hävdgynnad flora, med bland annat mandelblomma, darrgräs och rödklint, trots flera decennier utan utmarksbete eller annan hävd. Kan den rika förekomsten av mohare Lepus timidus sylvaticus, som dokumenterats på Hållö i äldre litteratur, haft en gynnsam inverkan på de hävdgynnade arterna och den biologiska mångfald som dokumenterats på ön i tidigare kärlväxtinventeringar? Att få förståelse för vår svenska mohares roll i naturliga betesmarker kan hjälpa förvaltare att bättre och mer effektivt arbeta med naturvårdsinsatser i skyddade områden. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Wetland restoration on Öland : a short-term evaluation of vascular plant community composition after topsoil removal and reinstated grazing

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Marta Holmlund; [2023]
    Nyckelord :wetland restoration; vegetation; biodiversity; topsoil removal; Ellenberg indicator values;

    Sammanfattning : Wetlands are recognized as important types of ecosystems, inhabiting rich biodiversity and performing multiple ecosystem services. However, many have been lost because of anthropogenic activities and a majority of the remaining wetland habitats are in bad conditions, displaying both loss of functionality and biodiversity. 5. 5. Secrets of the Seeds : exploring the relationship between seed morphology and seed quality in Lepidium campestre, a novel oil crop for Northern Sweden

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Författare :Ludvig Pettersson Landgren; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Lepidium campestre; field cress; oil crop; plant breeding; domestication; seed morphology; seed colour; seed analysis; Northern Sweden; glucosinolate;

    Sammanfattning : This study set out to explore relationships between seed morphology and qualitative traits in field cress, Lepidium campestre, with the goal of assisting the breeding process of this crop under domestication. A collection of seeds of L. campestre as well as related species was analysed for weight and size using a MARViN seed analyser. LÄS MER
