Sammanfattning: The purpose of the study was to explore terminations in psychotherapy in the age span of 15-18 years and from this find facorts which might have significance and also to explore how the separation aspect was able to be processed at the termination. The research approach emanated from hermeneutic and phenomenolgical perspectives and the method used was thematic analysis. Interviews were made with eight child- and adolescent psychotherapists. Within the study six main themes were found ; The emotional relation, Change; The Psychotherapy continue-when the termination pushes forward, Abrupt termination-the Psychotehrapy ends in advance and Interaction with parents in psychotherapy.The results were analyzed within the theoretical frame of attachment, mentalization and the development of the self. The conclusions contained the importance of the psychotherapists concern in establishing a gainful therapeutic alliance in the beginning of the treatment which was found to be important and influenced how the separation aspect could be processed and the importance to establish and open dialogue about the psychotherapy and coping with issues of transference and countertransference in the role of leading the therapy to a mature termination.
