Sammanfattning: The development of a new technology plays a big role in many areas in our society. During the past couple of years artificial intelligence has grown into a very popular subject and its implementations keep growing and improving. Within the graphic design domain, artificial intelligence (AI) has made great progress, but also created discussion about how AI affects or will affect graphic designers and their work. In this study we focused on the current views and expectations of AI when it comes to the workflow and creativity of graphic designers. This was investigated by carrying out a survey where designers could answer questions about their experiences of how AI affects their efficiency and creativity. The study involved conducting an online survey on a sample of 23 participants who work as graphic designers. Most of them were males, worked in North America and had more than 5 years of working experience in their field. Participants were assigned questions such as how their workflow and creativity had been affected by the usage of AI technology from a personal point of view. On the other hand, participants who had not used AI before were asked about their willingness to learn and implement the technology in their work. Based on the results of this study, there appears to be a difference between the perception of AI-technology among graphic designers who have used it and those who have not. Participants who have experience using AI tend to view it more positively while participants who have not used AI tend to view it more critically. However, the results are not conclusive. Apart from the predominant representation of North American males among the participants, a longer-term study with a larger sample size is recommended to increase the reliability of the findings. Additionally, it may be beneficial to repeat the study in the future, as AI-technology continues to evolve and becomes more integrated into the field of graphic design.
