Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to examine the experience of the relationship an individual has towards his workplace after parental leave, which will be done by answering three questions; how will a parent see the return to his workplace after his parental leave? How will the workplace differ after the parental leave? And how can the parent differ between his work and private life? In order to answer these three questions, we have executed seven qualitative interviews with employees with different positions within different companies. We have with the help of previous research been able to illustrate topics such as balance between work and private life, organisational culture and how parental leave affects employee promotions at the workplace. With the empirical data, we have been able to create themes such as organisational support to the employee during parental leave, the increased knowledge of the respondents during the parental leave, problems when returning to the workplace as well as differing between the working and private life. We have been able to conclude that the respondent’s relationship to their workplace after the parental leave has changed and that they have gained new knowledge during the parental leave, which has been beneficial at the workplace. The companies we have examined that encourage parental leave have also been able to create an enjoyable and attractive working environment.
