Genus och valdeltagande i Värmland : En uppsats om valdeltagande i Karlstad samt landskommunerna Östra fågelvik och Nyed mellan 1919–1950.

Sammanfattning: This essay is about the political participation in three communities in Värmland between the years of 1919-1950. The research is done in Karlstad, Östra Fågelvik and Nyed. The purpose of the essay is to find out if there were an existing correlation between were people lived and communal political participation. The first question in this essay is whether there were any differences between women in an urban environment, Karlstad, and women in the countryside. The second question is about the difference between political participation women and men. As a help to understand the result the essay use Yvonne Hirdmans theory about gender contracts and four different factors for political participation. The factors are Social bases, mobilizing, the meaning of the votes and martial status. The source material used in the essay is voting journals and SCB:s election statistics over communal elections in Karlstad. The essay is a quantified case study whit complementary parts of stratifying. The study end ups in a quantitative accounting method whit diagrams for voting, actual political participation and political participation in percent.The result show that women from the countryside had a higher participant when it came to voting. The men voted in a higher rate than women did in all the societies researched. The result both retract and confirm earlier research.
