Sammanfattning: The purpose of the essay is to study the media reporting of elite people in Swedish entertainment journalism, based on a gender perspective. To investigate the phenomenon: How media contribute to consolidating or challenging gender roles in society. The study is a case study of the 2022 defamation trial between actors Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. Previous research has studied gender in general, gender and stereotypes, but there are gaps in the research in gender and entertainment journalism. Where there is more research from other perspectives, such as politics and sports. The study focuses on the connection between media, gender and elite people. Whether entertainment journalism, based on the portrayal of men and women, can influence how the view of gender looks in society. The phenomenon is investigated through the method of qualitative text analysis with an abductive thematic approach. The phenomenon was analyzed using gender theory, representation theory, agenda theory and media logic, with a focus on the evening newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen. The study was narrowed down to eight news articles through a thematic analysis. The study is based on three themes: victims, perpetrators and evidence. The research questions are: How are Johnny Depp and Amber Heard respectively portrayed based on the themes of victim and perpetrator in Swedish entertainment journalism? and How are men and women portrayed in Swedish entertainment journalism based on the theme of evidence? The study's results demonstrate differences in how Aftonbladet and Expressen choose to portray elite men and women. Men and women from a gender perspective are portrayed in a way that reinforces unequal norms and stereotypes in society. The man is rarely portrayed as a stereotypical victim, instead the male victim is shown through humorous presentation. The media logic in the form of stereotypes continuously strengthens the perspective of the man and thus the submissiveness of the woman. When the woman is portrayed as a victim, the woman is put in a compartment, victim without power. The study follows the same lines as previous research on gender and elite men. This is also shown through evidence in the form of testimonies where journalists and fans continuously reinforce the prevailing gender order, rather than question it. An elite man thus possesses an invisible power and is rarely considered guilty. At least not in the eyes of the media or the media audience. There is a lack of objectivity in Swedish entertainment journalism. Thus, a victim and perpetrator are labeled in the media before anyone is proven guilty. The result thus showed that Swedish entertainment journalism has a central role when it comes to the view of gender as a result of the news reporting about elite people.
