Sammanfattning: The purpose of the study is to visualize preschool teachers' understanding of and perceptions of reading aloud in preschool, and how reading aloud is organized to an increased language development. In this study, we have interviewed eight preschool teachers with different lengths of work experience, ranging from recent graduates to having worked in preschool activities for 40 years. To collect the study's data, we have used semi-structured interviews, which resulted in us deciding to use a phenomenographic approach to analyse the material. This is because the purpose of the study is to examine preschool teachers' different perceptions of reading aloud.  The results of the study show that preschool teachers understand that reading aloud contributes to increased language development in the children, and that the environment inside the ward should be organized to promote language development. This is done by placing the books at the children's level and that the books chosen are based on children's interests. The preschool teachers who were interviewed were very creative in making their own material in the different forms of books so that the children would have varied ways of reading. The material was flano-stories, book boards and wall books, which have been well received by the children.
