  1. 1. Reindeer grazing, soil wetness and aspect interact to drive tundra plant community structure in northern Sweden

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Författare :Emma Gemal; [2023]
    Nyckelord :tundra plants; vegetation; abiotic vs. biotic effects; community composition; diversity; reindeer herbivory; accelerometry; grazing;

    Sammanfattning : The relative importance of abiotic versus biotic top-down factors on structuring tundra plant communities is debated. With climate change already strongly affecting the tundra ecosystem, understanding which factors will prevail is vital. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hundangrepp på betesdjur - lösspringande hundar som problem inom naturvårdsbete

    Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvård

    Författare :Milene Björkman Ekdahl; [2021-11-29]
    Nyckelord :dog attacks; livestock; grazing; nature conservation; semi – natural pastures;

    Sammanfattning : As the number of livestock available for grazing semi-natural pastures are declining in many areas of Sweden, there is a growing concern for the future biodiversity of many nature conservation pastures. At the same time there has been reports of off-leash domestic dogs frightening and attacking herds of sheep and cows, especially around major cities, and popular summer destinations (such as the archipelagos of the west coast of Sweden). 3. 3. Management of pastures : what is affecting the farmers priority?

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Karolina Karlsson; [2020]
    Nyckelord :pasture; natural pasture; environment subsidies; land leasing; grazing regimes; grazing management;

    Sammanfattning : Natural pastures are important for the biological biodiversity. 2004 did we have 520 000 ha of pastures in Sweden according to the Swedish agency of agriculture, today we have 461 000 ha (Jordbruksverket, 2019). LÄS MER

  4. 4. Floristic change in the province of Scania in southernmost Sweden 1800-2020: using fragmented data to study landscape-level shifts

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Examensarbeten i biologi

    Författare :Cassandra Hallman; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Biology and Life Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular plant observances were compiled for 10 well-documented parishes throughout southernmost Sweden from published floras, herbarium specimens, modern inventories, and a large citizen-science database to provide presence/absence of species from 1800-2020 at the decade level. A regionally-specific database of species-specific plant traits and ecological indicator values was used to examine floristic and ecological changes across an extended timeline which indicates that several of the most apparent conservation issues including climate warming, woody encroachment, and soil chemistry alterations have acted for long over a century. 5. 5. The effect of the interplay between fire frequency and grassland structure on tick abundances in the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, South Africa

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Thilo Heinecke; [2020]
    Nyckelord :ticks; acari; pyrodiversity; grassland structure; fire ecology; fire frequency; grazing lawn;

    Sammanfattning : Fire in ecology is a very variable factor and its effects are best described as a complex feedback system with other biotic and abiotic factors. These feedback systems need to be understood to enable generalized conclusions about the influence of fire regimes. LÄS MER
