Sammanfattning: The national plebiscite in Colombia regarding the peace agreement between the government and FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) was held on October 2nd 2016 and was suprisingly won by the No-side with a minimum of votes resulting in a rejection of the current peace deal. Yet, a majority of the Colombian people did not show up at the polls to vote. Less than 40% of the electorates actually voted and just over 20% of them voted No. The question asked was following: ”Do you support the final agreement to end the conflict and the construction of a stable and long-lasting peace?”. This descriptive case study aims to explain and discuss the outcome and the participation of the plebiscite regarding the peace agreement in Colombia. The research question guiding this study is: Everybody wants peace right, so why did the people vote No? The conclusion of the study is that there are many possible reasons for people to vote No in the plebiscite and one important reason that effected the outcome is trust for the government.
