Sammanfattning: The implementation of the hybrid work model is increasing within the banking sector. This work model has become valuable to recruit new talent, strengthen competitive advantages and because many bank employees have changed their view of where their work can be conducted. However, studies show that bank managers prefer the banking sectors’ traditional working culture, which is characterized by onsite-work. Since an increased implementation of the hybrid work model in the banking sector poses new challenges for bank manager’s leadership, this study aims to analyze how bank managers adapt their leadership in hybrid work models by examining leadership challenges and how these are managed. This study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with bank managers, analysis based on Goleman’s theory of situational leadership and the theory of communicative leadership as well as previous research. Based on the results of the study the conclusions could be drawn that bank managers experience and manage leadership challenges with availability, participation and communication. The overall conclusion is that leadership challenges and their respective measures show the bank managers’ learning processes and development. This learning process and development is important to eliminate leadership challenges over time and to get bank managers to lead in new ways.
