Sammanfattning: Environmental issues are becoming increasingly relevant, and the construction sector faces a dilemma when it comes to making building projects more environmentally friendly without exceeding costs and time frames. Three major aspects, environmental impact, costs and the time period are interconnected and influence each other based on the choice of materials used in the design. Therefore, in our work, we attempt to simplify and provide a comparison between two different models built with different material and methods. Concrete can be purchased as a cast element or cast onsite. A cast element is a more expensive alternative; however, it should be considered an investment, it saves a great deal of time at the construction site. This applies to the steel column as well, which cost significantly more than concrete elements. It does, however, save both time at the construction site and during transportation. The carbon dioxide emissions for concrete are significantly lower than the ones for the steel column which is an aspect to be considered as well. For our Model 1 with steel columns and cast flat slabs, and Model 2 with cast-in-place concrete walls and hollow-core slabs, based on our interviews, we find that Model 1 is advantageous in terms of the time frame. There are no significant differences between the models interms of costs, but Model 2 has 8,8% higher carbon dioxide emissions in this project according to our calculations and studies.
