Självbelåtenhet eller självsäkerhet? : En kvalitativ innehållsanalys om den svenska regeringens arbete med jämställdhet och genus under Covid19-pandemin

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study is to make an analysis of the Swedish government's work during covid-19, based on a gender perspective and equality linked to gender roles. The purpose of the study is to see if a state like Sweden suffers from a type of complacency when it comes to how far the country has come in its work with equality between the two sexes. This is particularly interesting as Sweden during the corona pandemic was governed by an avowedly feminist government. During a crisis, things are pushed to their limits and a type of value-complexity arises. This can make it difficult for the decision-makers in a state to know how resources and their work should be allocated and prioritized. By investigating this, the essay aims to see if gender equality was something that the decision-makers in Sweden prioritized during the coronacrisis or not. This is interesting since it has been possible to see how women are a more vulnerable group than men during times of crisis. This essay is written as a qualitative content analysis as a form of a case study and therefore focuses solely on Sweden as a country and the work of the Swedish government during the pandemic. The chosen method of the study is the liberal feminist theory. This theory will be broken down into two main female gender roles in the operationalization of the study, a productive role and a reproductive role. These two roles will then be used in the analysis to see how the Swedish government worked to help women as a vulnerable group during the pandemic. The result that can be deduced is that there is still some work to be done when it comes to gender equality in Sweden.
