Sammanfattning: The project has investigated the possibility of streamlining one of Ålö’s warehouse and order picking departments, through a proposal that includes full automation of the department. The work was divided into two parts that first constructed the new layout and then created different sortings of the order picking process that can benefit the efficiency of order picking based on various parameters. The conclusion from the work is that an industrial automation of the department is possible through existing technologies on the market andcould help to eliminate a large part of the personal dependence in the department today. Sorting strategies have been created and discussed with the conclusion that Ålö must internally determine between the priority of being more time-efficient in order picking or creating more even cycle times. With the help of a gantry robot that can also transport itself diagonally to pick articles, the company can save up to 28.5% of the transport distance.
