  1. 1. Linking for Peace. An affordance perspective of LinkedIn as an instrument for peace professionals to advance constructive conflict resolution and transformative efforts

    Master-uppsats, Institutionen för tillämpad informationsteknologi

    Författare :Jasmine Traore; [2023-11-22]
    Nyckelord :Affordances; Human Computer Interaction HCI ; Peace and Conflict Research;

    Sammanfattning : Has LinkedIn become the platform for a global community of practice for peace professionals? Does it have the potential to be? An inductive approach to Reflexive Thematic Analysis (RTA) following Braun and Clarke’s six-phase methodology was used as an analytic instrument on empirical data from 13 semi-structured interviews with professionals in peace mediation, using the theoretical lens of affordances. The participants in the study were found to use LinkedIn to create and sustain meaningful connections globally and across sectors, learn from empirical knowledge, stories and insights from others and explore economic opportunities. 2. 2. Attitudes to developing sustainable digital products : A human-centered design study on how to support the climate work of digital media service providers

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Maria Jacobson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :S-HCI; sustainability; environmental decision support systems; human-centered design; S-HCI; hållbarhet; beslutsfattande inom hållbarhet; människocentrerad design;

    Sammanfattning : As climate change is becoming an increasingly more alarming threat in society, sustainability as a topic becomes more and more important in relation to a range of business activities, software development being one. Several frameworks for how software development and computing products should be developed and evaluated on the basis of sustainability and climate impact are being developed, but there are no standardized ways to go about this type of work and the topic is still under prioritized in favor of other non functional requirements, like financial aspects. 3. 3. Designing for Interconnectedness : Strategies for More-Than-Human Experiences

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för informatik

    Författare :Anton Fischer; Flora Jameson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Research through design; interconnectedness; more-than-human design; design strategies; noticing; sustainable HCI; 3D-printing; circular material flow;

    Sammanfattning : More-than-human design represents a paradigm shift that decentralises the human in relation to the rest of the living world. As part of this movement, scholars call for a new worldview that recognizes the interconnectedness between human and non-human beings. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Unleashing the Awareness of Sustainable Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Among Youth: : Bridging the Knowledge Gap and EmpoweringFuture Sustainable Designers

    Kandidat-uppsats, Jönköping University/JTH, Avdelningen för datateknik och informatik

    Författare :Mariam Basyouny; Aleksandra Männik; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Sustainable HCI; Sustainable Interaction Design; Digital Technology; Digital Carbon Footprint; Digital Sustainability; Eco-feedback Technology; Young Designers; Digital Design.;

    Sammanfattning : This research paper aims to explore the knowledge gap among young designers in relation to sustainable human-computer interaction (HCI), focusing on Interaction Design, and investigating the necessary resources for designing sustainable HCI. Lack of knowledge among young designers regarding sustainable practices in digital design contributes to the overconsumption of energy, and increased carbon emissions, highlighting the need to raise awareness and bridge the knowledge gap in Sustainable Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) design among youth. 5. 5. 2D or not 2D: Assessing environmental awareness and cognitive load in mixed reality data visualizations : Visualizing gas leak data visualizations for an industrial surveying setting

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Julia Schwuchow; [2023]
    Nyckelord :environmental awareness; cognitive load; information visualization; mixed reality; sustainable HCI; miljomedvetenhet; kognitiv belastning; informationsvisualisering; mixad ¨ verklighet; hallbar MDI;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing the environmental awareness of invisible data, such as a city’s air pollution or a household’s energy consumption, has been an ongoing information visualization challenge that has entered the fields of immersive technologies like augmented (AR) and mixed reality (MR). In order to understand how form and dimensional affect this understanding for MR environments, this research investigated what the difference between statistical, iconographic 2D and physical 3D visualizations is with regards to minimizing cognitive load and fostering environmental awareness.
