  1. 1. Evaluating Sugar Signaling during Xylose Oxidation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi

    Författare :Viktor Persson; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Saccharomyces cerevisiae; yeast; xylose oxidation; sugar signaling; biosensor; applied microbiology; teknisk mikrobiologi; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The sugar signaling state of cells oxidizing xylose was investigated through the chromosomal integration of the Weimberg pathway into previously established biosensor strains capable of monitoring the Snf3p/Rgt2p, SNF1/Mig1p, and cAMP/PKA pathways through the expression of HXT1, SUC2, and TPS1, respectively. Ultimately, two new strains were successfully developed containing both the Weimberg pathway and a biosensor for either HXT1 (TMB CB 112) or TPS1 (TMB CB 117). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Using CRISPR/Cas9 to regulate enzyme expression levels in the Weimberg pathway for optimal xylose consumption in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi

    Författare :Anna Heiling; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Yeast; Weimberg pathway; xylose consumption; Applied Microbiology; Teknisk mikrobiologi; Chemistry; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a commonly used industrial organism which cannot consume xylose naturally. This is a problem since xylose is a major component in renewable resources, for instance lignocellulose. The Weimberg pathway is a pathway that converts xylose into α-ketoglutarate. It has been successfully integrated into S. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Preparation and evaluation of arabinoxylan based prebiotics

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master)

    Författare :Mohammad Abu Mursalin Sajib; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Arabinoxylan; Probiotics; Prebiotics; Food; Xylanase; Brewer s spent grain; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Prebiotics are non-digestible carbohydrates that selectively stimulate the growth and activity of health promoting bacteria in the colon, resulting in homeostasis to the gut environment. It is considered to be the solution of many health-related diseases such as type-2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Separation and Extraction of Proteins and Polysaccharides from the Seaweed Palmaria Palmata using Enzyme Digestion

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Tillämpad biokemi

    Författare :Anna Nilsson; [2017]
    Nyckelord :Palmaria palmata; dulse; enzyme digestion; separation; protease; xylan; xylose; seaweed; xylanase; applied biochemistry; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Inom matindustrin och djurfoderindustrin finns det stor potential för användning av tång som näringsrikt födoämne. Palmaria palmata (P. Palmata), eller i vardagligt tal, dulse är ett rött sjögräs med högt proteininnehåll (8-35%), som innehåller många mineraler som t.ex. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Physiology of Caulobacter crescentus grown on different carbon sources

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Författare :Sara Lind Jónsdóttir Glaser; [2016]
    Nyckelord :aerobic cultivation; physical characterization; lignocellulosic biomass; xylose degradation; Weimberg; bioreactors; enzyme assays; chemical engineering; kemiteknik; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Freshwater, obligate aerobic, Gram-negative bacterium Caulobacter crescentus strain CB2 is able to metabolise various types of carbon sources. In this degree project, growth characterization of C.crescentus was made on different substrates including glucose, xylose, and mannose using shake-flask cultivations and bioreactor experiments.
