”Det är lätt att missa just för att det är så pass nytt” : En kvalitativ studie om socialsekreterares syn på barn som växer upp i spelmissbruk jämfört med substansmissbruk

Sammanfattning: Previous research shows that gambling addiction receives less attention in Social services compared with substance abuse. The aim of the study was to compare the child-welfare officer’s view on problem for the child and also on support and assistance for children who grow up in families where parents are compulsive gamblers than in families where parents have a substance abuse (in this paper it will include both alcohol and drugs). In the implementation of the study, we have used a qualitative approach in the form of six (06) semi-structured interviews with child-welfare officers who work with investigation of children and young people’s situations. Our results showed that the majority of the child-welfare officers saw differences depending on which environment the child grows up in, despite the fact that the previous research showed that children who grow up in gambling addiction and substance abuse are affected in a similar way. The results showed that they saw differences on the consequences for the child, but they could see no difference in support and help for the child.
