Sammanfattning: Lake Vomb is situated in the southwest of Skåne, Sweden, and is important due to its role as drinking water reservoir. The lake is situated in highly cultivated farmland and is highly influenced by nutrient rich run-off water. There is no locally adapted water management plan for lake Vomb and the lake is currently managed under a regional water management plan which covers the entire Southern Baltic Sea region. This paper aims to investigate the possibility of adapting a local water management plan for lake Vomb and examine what such a plan should entail. Firstly, a literature and document study was conducted to learn more about the regional fresh water management plan for the Southern Baltic Sea region and the listed measures for improving water quality. Local conditions and current management of lake Vomb was also examined. Secondly, an interview study was conducted, interviewing select representatives of various agencies and operators working with or around the lake. Benefits with adapting a local water management plan would be a higher level of cooperation and consultation between the different authorities involved and locals. Local acceptance of the water management measures would increase. The focus of a local plan should be on external and internal nutrient loading, improved water level regulation and controlled fishery. The conducted interview study showed that Kävlingeån water council holds great confidence from locals as well as authorities, and all interviewees agreed that the water council would be suitable for developing a local water management plan.
