Sammanfattning: Abstract This study is based on a survey whose purpose was to investigate the attitude towards dialectsin northern Bohuslän. Furthermore, the attitude between men and women is compared as well as age. The survey was created in the program Survey&Report, which is provided via the student license from Karlstad University. The participants who were interesting for this study were those from northern Bohuslän; Sotenäs, Orust, Lysekil, Munkedal, Tanum, Strömstad and Uddevalla. The survey was then shared on the social media platform Facebook in the hope of getting a lot of participants. Due to a lack of time, the total number of respondents was 189, of which 125 were women and 65 were men. It also turned out to be an uneven distribution of participants from the various municipalities, which ultimately could influencethe outcome of the results. The results showed that the participants generally had a positive attitude towards the dialect in Bohuslän, with women being the most positive group.Regarding the age groups, there was a relatively positive attitude amongst all the participants. It also turned out that over half of the participants considered their dialect to be part of their identity, of which the men showed a slightly higher percentage than the women. Keywords: Dialects in Bohuslän, attitudes, identity, gender, age
