  1. 1. PGE Geochemistry and Mineralogy of Dunite, Chromitite, and Laterite Samples from the Acoje Ophiolite Block, Philippines

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Geovetenskap och miljöteknik

    Författare :Michelle Dossey; [2023]
    Nyckelord :PGM; PGE; laterite; limonite; chromitite; dunite; platinum group minerals; platinum group elements; Acoje; Philippines;

    Sammanfattning : Ni-laterites have the potential to become unconventional ore deposits for platinum group elements (PGE). This study was conducted to determine enrichment trends of PGE as a result of the Ni-laterization process. LÄS MER

  2. 2. “LKAB är en drake som ingen vill väcka” : En fallstudieanalys om framställningen av Gabna samebys rättigheter och intressen i svensk riksmedia

    Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Författare :Miranda Olofsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :The Sami village of Gabna; Sami rights; LKAB; rare earth elements; the Swedish state; critical discourse analysis; Swedish national media; center and periphery; internal orientalism; green colonialism; green sacrifice zones.;

    Sammanfattning : Exploitation of indigenous lands due to the extraction of natural resources is a global problem, historically and today. This paper will focus on a Swedish context, specifically the mining industry in Kiruna and how the state-owned mining company LKAB with a new discovery of rare earth elements (REE) threatens to exploit the lands of the Sami village of Gabna. 3. 3. Magnetic Mineralogy of Nb-bearing Carbonatites from Oldoinyo Dili (Tanzania)

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Julia Frejd; [2021]
    Nyckelord :carbonatites; niobium; rare earth elements; Oldoinyo Dili; magnetic properties; karbonatiter; niob; rare earth elements; Oldoinyo Dili; magnetiska egenskaper;

    Sammanfattning : Niobium (Nb) and Rare Earth Elements (REE’s) have in recent years received considerable attention because of their importance to the modern technical industry, and more specifically the enhanced sustainability that comes with them. The main source for Nb and REE’s on Earth are carbonatites and associated alkaline silicate rocks. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Three-dimensional modelling of the Källfallsgruvan iron oxide deposit, Riddarhyttan ore field, Bergslagen, Sweden: Integrating existing and new data to aid understanding of structural controls and mineral exploration

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Författare :Edna Spahic; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Three-dimensional modelling; Mineral exploration; Bergslagen; Riddarhyttan ore field; Källfallsgruvan iron-oxide deposit;

    Sammanfattning : The Bergslagen ore province, located in the Fennoscandian shield in the south-central part of Sweden hosts several metallic mineral deposits, one of them being the Källfallsgruvan iron-oxide deposit in the Riddarhyttan ore field, situated in a high-strain shear belt denoted as the West Bergslagen Boundary Zone (WBBZ).  An accurate 3D geological model of the Källfallsgruvan iron-oxide deposit has been generated to aid understanding of the ore body geometries and calculating volume and tonnage. 5. 5. Complex REE zonations in metamorphic garnet reflect accessory mineral reactions

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Niclas Hultin; [2020-05-29]
    Nyckelord :Rare Earth Elements; REEs; Garnet; LA-ICP-MS; Sesia zone; Metamorphism;

    Sammanfattning : A garnet from the Sesia Zone, NW Italy, was selected for Major and Rare Earth Element (REE) mapping, using LA-ICP-MS – a procedure previously not conducted at the Department of Earth Science at University of Gothenburg. The original inclusion assemblage of the garnet is preserved, and the mapping revealed two distinct changes in both garnet chemistry and inclusion assemblage, both which can be linked to the metamorphic development of the region.
