1. The impact of CO2 fertilisation on foliage in West and East Africa
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : Anthropogenic impact on terrestrial ecosystems continues to grow as we further enhance atmospheric Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) concentrations. The changing climatic conditions and direct influence of CO₂ on vegetation has a big impact on ecosystem functions. LÄS MER
2. Analyzing the impact of marine protected areas on coastal zones : A case-study of Addo Elephant National Park Marine Protected Area, South Africa
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och industriell teknikSammanfattning : The ocean is, with its extraordinary ability to regulate the climate and absorb carbon dioxide, a vital ecosystem for all life on the planet. Moreover, the ocean is highly important for coastal communities as a source of income and nutrition, and as a consequence of increasing dependence it is becoming more significant to mitigate the effects of these anthropogenic activities on the ocean and its resources. 3. Föroreningar i akvatiska ekosystem
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Centrum för miljö- och klimatvetenskap (CEC)Sammanfattning : This literature study aims to investigate prior knowledge of the effects of heavy metals on amphibians in freshwater environments. The methodological approach for the study is based on extensive searches in the database called Web of Science. LÄS MER
4. FOREST LANDSCAPE STRUCTURE OF CAPERCAILLIE (TETRAO UROGALLUS) LEK SITES IN NORTHERN SWEDEN : Analysis of lek site characteristics
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : The purpose of this study is to analyze which variables influence the capercaillie’s (Tetrao urogallus) selection of lek sites in northern Sweden by using remote sensing data. The lek site is a crucial area for the species’ reproductive success. LÄS MER
5. Investigating surface spring snow : Changes in the isotopic composition and conductivity along an orographic precipitation gradient in northern Fennoscandia
Kandidat-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskapSammanfattning : Stable isotopes of oxygen (O18) and hydrogen (H2) are used as proxies of past climates when ice preserved in the polar icecaps. The main assumption when doing paleoclimatic reconstructions using these isotopes is that the isotopic composition of the snow that turned into ice reflect the present temperature of the planet during deposition.
