  1. 1. Spatial analysis of arsenic and fluoride mobilization in groundwater around Mount Meru, northern Tanzania

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Henriette Nishimwe; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Arsenic; Fluoride; Groundwater; Mobilization; Mount Meru; Geochemical and Spatial Modelling; Arsenic; Fluoride; Groundwater; Mobilization; Mount Meru; Geochemical and Spatial Modelling;

    Sammanfattning : In Tanzania, approximately 76% of the drinking water supplies is dependent on groundwater sources. However, the groundwater in north Tanzania is susceptible to contamination by arsenic and fluoride. This study examines the spatial analysis of arsenic and fluoride mobilization in groundwater around Mount Meru, located in northern Tanzania. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gender roles in households : A case study on gender roles in households in northern Tanzania

    Kandidat-uppsats, Jönköping University/HLK, Sustainable Societies (SUS)

    Författare :Ottilia Lundh; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Case study; gender roles; Tarime; northern Tanzania; gender inequality; gender perspectives; Serengeti-Mara Ecosystem Project SEMA ; sustainable livelihoods; oppression; physical violence; female genital multination; household activities; education; gender equality.; Fallstudie; könsroller; Tarime; norra Tanzania; ojämlikhet mellan könen; genusperspektiv; Serengeti-Mara Ecosystem Project SEMA ; hållbar försörjning; förtryck; fysiskt våld; kvinnlig könsstympning; hushållsaktiviteter; utbildning; jämställdhet;

    Sammanfattning : This case study investigates perspectives and changes in gender roles in household activities from a gender (in)equality context in Tarime, northern Tanzania. The participants in this study part-took in a previous project called the Serengeti-Mara Ecosystem Project (SEMA) which aimed to integrate gender perspectives and sustainable livelihoods in rural parts of Tarime. 3. 3. Magnetic Mineralogy of Nb-bearing Carbonatites from Oldoinyo Dili (Tanzania)

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Julia Frejd; [2021]
    Nyckelord :carbonatites; niobium; rare earth elements; Oldoinyo Dili; magnetic properties; karbonatiter; niob; rare earth elements; Oldoinyo Dili; magnetiska egenskaper;

    Sammanfattning : Niobium (Nb) and Rare Earth Elements (REE’s) have in recent years received considerable attention because of their importance to the modern technical industry, and more specifically the enhanced sustainability that comes with them. The main source for Nb and REE’s on Earth are carbonatites and associated alkaline silicate rocks. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Palaeomagnetism and Magnetic Fabrics of The Lake Natron Escarpment Volcano-sedimentary Sequence, Northern Tanzania

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Gülsinem Polat Wiers; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Natron Escarpment; Northern Tanzania; Paleomagnetism; Geomagnetic Polarity Time Scale; Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility;

    Sammanfattning : The East African Rift System diverges in the Lake Natron Basin of Northern Tanzania and is a major zone of continental extension and crustal thinning with resulting in active tectonics and volcanism. The discovery of Acheulean technology in Olduvai Gorge and Peninj as well as the presence of significant volcanic centers, has made in the region subject to studies in various disciplines. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Geochemical Investigation of Arsenic in Drinking Water Sources in Proximity of Gold Mining Areas within the Lake Victoria Basin, in Northern Tanzania

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Enrico Lucca; [2017]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Access to safe drinking water is a challenge for rural communities in many developing countries. Drinking contaminated water endangers human health and impairs social and economic development. Arsenic (As) is a metalloid widely distributed into the environment and is highly toxic in its trivalent inorganic form. LÄS MER
