1. Data Assimilation for Systems with Multiple Timescales
Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)Sammanfattning : This text provides an overview of problems in the field of data assimilation. We explore the possibility of recreating unknown data by continuously inserting known data into certain dynamical systems, under certain regularity assumptions. LÄS MER
2. Solving Korteweg-de Vries equations with Discontinuous Galerkin methods
Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Tillämpad matematik; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska fakultetenSammanfattning : In this thesis the Discontinuous Galerkin approximation performance applied to the Korteweg–de Vries equation is investigated. This equation is nonlinear with a third spatial derivative and can be used for shallow water movement. LÄS MER
3. Surf Simulation with the Shallow Water Equations : Coupling of a surfer model to a shallow water wave
Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)Sammanfattning : This thesis covers the subject of deriving and solving the system of partial differential equations known as the Shallow Water Equations (SWE), and coupling the solutions of this equation system to a simplified model of a surfer - or any floating object, with the right choice of parameters. The SWE are generally used to analyze fluid movement on shallow areas, such as ocean waves nearing the shore, and are derived from the Navier-Stokes equations and restricted to conservation of mass and momentum in a fluid. 4. A residual based artificialviscosity method for the stabilizationof the shallow water equations
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informationsteknologiSammanfattning : The shallow water equations (SWE) are a system of nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations, that have been widely used to modelflows in rivers and coastal areas. For many practical purposes, such as flood mitigation and coastal protection, it is extremely important to develop an accurate, efficient, and robust numerical solver. LÄS MER
5. Hydraulic modelling of the vulnerability for compounding high sea levels and high river discharge on the Swedish coastline
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresursläraSammanfattning : Coastal floodplains are at risk for combined high discharge and sea level events. Consequences when they occur can be several magnitudes greater than the impact from any isolated event. LÄS MER
