Sammanfattning: Throughout the history, sport has been an activity primarily led by men. However, times have changed and an apparent increase in female appearance, within sport, has been visible. As a matter of fact, female athletes represent about 40% of all athletes in total around the world. Nevertheless, despite of increasing female attendance in sport, women receives limited media coverage and when they are presented in the media, it is often with a reduced tone. Meanwhile, the male athletes and their athletic performance are frequently written about in the media and often expressed as the highlights of the sporting event.   The purpose of this study is to examine the similarities, as well as differences, in the representation of female and male golfers in the magazine Swedish Golf. The study predominately uses critical discourse analysis and a gender perspective. The analysed data will suggest that there are several trends that indicate a gender hierarchy in which the female golf players have a lower status than the male ones.
