Sammanfattning: The transport sector is currently transitioning into a more sustainable use of fuel. The current aim of the European Commission is to reduce the greenhouse gas net emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. Electric trucks are considered an important aspect in this transition. However, the development of charging infrastructure for heavy electric vehicles in Sweden faces challenges associated with large scale investments and long term power grid infrastructure development. This thesis provides a deeper understanding of the challenges through the aspect of institutional theory with a qualitative analysis of different stakeholder experiences. By identifying power dynamics within institutions and regulatory frameworks the reader is provided with essential insights into navigating this challenging landscape. This analysis generates an understanding of how stakeholders are affected by industry norms and political tradition when planning for new heavy vehicle charge infrastructure and an insight to what institutional changes might be necessary in order to meet the demands of the sustainable transition. These findings offer an important outlook on the planning process of heavy vehicle charging infrastructure in Sweden.
