Sammanfattning: An analysis of Thinspiration pictures, selected from a representative visual material. Thinspiration pictures refers to pictures uploaded on the internet to, as the expression implies, inspire thinness and selfstarvation. This study examine the pictures contextual function as well as the individuals that are influenced by them, their characteristics and their visual aspects. By visual analysis and discussion the main features of the pictures are determined, and trough a poststructuralistic feministic perspective their function in relation to the target group is discussed. This study indicates that the Thinspiration pictures express features that can be linked to anorexia as a pathology, though the existence of Thinspiration pictures is not hermetically confined, detached from societal influence. They express visual features that can be found in media and advertisement of modern society.
