Sammanfattning: This study aims to explore and analyze the dynamic interplay between digitalization and students' motivation within the educational context. In an era where digital tools are emphasized as means for knowledge development, the question arises regarding how these tools can guide students' learning and engagement. Motivation, identified as a key factor for success in mathematics, is the focal point of our investigation. Through the study, reading and scrutiny of existing research, we seek to comprehend how digital resources and technology can function as catalysts to unlock students' inherent potential in mathematics. Our focus is to ascertain whether digitalization can enhance mathematics education and thereby increase students' motivation and performance. In accordance with the curriculum's call for educators not only to permit but actively promote the use of digital tools, we explore how digitalization can support students' motivation in mathematics. Through a meticulous evaluation of previous research findings, we aim to determine whether digital tools have demonstrated a predominantly positive or negative effect on students' motivation toward mathematics. Our ambition is to contribute to a deeper understanding of how the integration of digital resources can optimize mathematics education, thus creating a more motivating and successful learning environment for students. The research suggests that the utilization of digital tools and digitalization holds the potential to positively impact students' motivation and engagement in mathematics education. For digitalization to be effective in instruction, it necessitates educators to enhance their skills in utilizing technology within the teaching context.
