Sammanfattning: In a democratic society values education is important, but complex and sometimes complicated to work with. This study contributes with Primary school teacher’s views and experiences on value education. It highlights the importance of a functioning and ongoing work with value systems. Further that teachers need time and efforts to do so. The aim of the study is to contribute with knowledge about how we as teachers can integrate value education in all school subject.  The empirical material was collected through interviews with eight Primary school teachers. To analyze the collected material Dewey’s ideas of developing a democratic society together with Vygotskij ideas for learning and teaching has been crucial.  The main theme in the result was the concept respect and the importance of contextualizing aspects of respecting others. The result shows that to have a successful school in which the students thrive and the teachers are not overworked, there must be a strong management that provides for all of this to happen in cohesion with the school staff. The study concludes that it is crucial that both teachers and students be provided with an understanding of what the actual values of the school is, and that teachers be provided with proper digital tools, as well as time, to be able to incorporate it with the students. Further, it is important that the teachers have time to reflect and exchange ideas for developing their work with values.   Keywords Value system, democracy, teaching, respect, curriculum, the school’s mission
