  1. 1. The Transformation of Risk Perception & Risk Tolerance of Airline Pilots as they progress through their career

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet

    Författare :Kannan Perumal; Chandrassegaran Mariappan; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Airline Pilots; Risk Perception; Risk Tolerance; Safety; Decision Making; FLMU06; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Risk perception and risk tolerance are key elements of decision-making and flight safety. During flight operations, an accident may occur if a pilot underestimates risk level or overestimates their capacity (risk tolerance). LÄS MER

  2. 2. Exploring Drivers and Barriers of Self-Assessment Systems for Fuel Efficiency in Aviation : A Case Study at a Scandinavian Airline

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Författare :Alexander Aronsson; David Rolstad; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Fuel Efficiency; Aviation; Self-Assessment Systems; UTAUT.; Bränsleeffektivitet; flygindustrin; själv-bedömande system; UTAUT.;

    Sammanfattning : The pollution of the aviation industry is often identified as a main contributor toward climate change, justified by the immense amounts of greenhouse gasses emitted during a flight. Therefore, it is inevitable that the aviation industry acts toward decreasing emissions of flights for mitigation of the climate crisis. LÄS MER

  3. 3. How reliance on resilient performance 'hides' or even contributes to system brittleness

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet

    Författare :Gitte Furdal Damm; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Resilience; Resilience Engineering; Safety; Risk; Work; Aviation; Aviation Safety; FLMU06; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Aviation is known to be safe, partly due to highly specialized pilots who undergo extensive training to fulfill and maintain their function at the sharp end. More demands are placed on the pilots as complexity continues to grow in aviation. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Gliding an Airbus A320 - Simplicity-Complexity Trade-Off

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet

    Författare :Cristian Mandu; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Aviation; Crew Resource Management; Workload; Situational Awareness; Decision Making; QRH procedure; Judgment Heuristics; Joint Cognitive Systems; FLMU06; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : In the unlikely critical event of an Airbus A320 aeroplane suffering an all engines failure at cruising altitude, would the pilots be able to follow procedures and land safely on a reachable runway? Nine out of twelve simulations done during this research resulted in a crash when the pilots used only the Airbus procedures. Can the pilots make a safe landing on a runway after being taught and having practised judgment heuristics in addition to the manufacturer procedures? According to the sampled results in this research, they can. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Blue skies or dark clouds for the pilots and flight attendants? : Loyalty, self-loyalty, commitment and motivation in the flight industry

    Magister-uppsats, Karlstads universitet

    Författare :Rahul Singh; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Loyalty; Self-loyalty; Motivation; Commitment; Pilot; Flight attendant; Flight industry; Low-cost airline; Carrier airlines;

    Sammanfattning : While worldwide the flight industry was increasing in the last decade, little is known about the working environment of pilots and flight attendants. This paper aims to develop a deeper understanding based on the theories of loyalty, self-loyalty, commitment, and motivation for pilots and flight attendants in the low-cost segment and the carrier segment in the flight industry.
