6. Reconstructing Mid-Late Holocene Arctic Climate Using Loess Deposits From Kangerlussuaq, Greenland
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : The current geological epoch, the Holocene, began 11,700 years ago. During this time, a thermal maximum in temperature was reached somewhere during the early-middle stage at 8-5 kyrs ago which was followed by a period of neoglacial cooling, culminating in the little ice age (LIA). 9. Holocene vegetation change and its correlates in fennoscandia
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskapSammanfattning : Climatic and anthropogenic legacy has differently impacted vegetation and its community composition. To determine the extent and origin of changes across Fennoscandia, representative regions were defined that entailed sufficient spatial and temporal data. LÄS MER
10. Methane Sulphonic Acid in East Antarctic Coastal Firn and Ice Cores and Its Relationship with Chlorophyll-a and Sea Ice Extent in the Southern Ocean
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : The seasonal retreat of sea ice in the austral spring and summer around Antarctica has a significant effect on phytoplankton activity, mainly due to light availability, meltwater input of dissolved iron, and surface water stratification. Phytoplankton produce dimethylsulfoniopropionate, the precursor to the climate-cooling gas dimethyl sulphide, which is ventilated to the atmosphere and oxidised to methane sulphonic acid (MSA).
